There will be a regular meeting of the Board of Health this coming Friday. Their last meeting as a special session where they voted 4-0 in favor of a resolution that stated as a matter of fact that they did not recommend that the Board of Education mandate a masking policy in schools. This directly contradicts what was said in a YouTube video published by the superintendent which I cloned into the Fediverse and you can watch here.
Virtual Jefferson County Board of Health Meeting scheduled for 09/10/21 at 9:00am. This is a virtual meeting via Zoom. See link for the meeting agenda and Zoom link.
In this week's meeting it looks like there is an open discussion on "Posting audio/video files on social media and/or web site" so I am interested to see what this will be about. I am not a fan of Zoom for various reasons which I will get into at a later date so I don't know if I will attend, but I am curious to see how this board is operating. I will say that after watching only a few Board of Education meetings, I can see there is something rotten in the state of Denmark. I was following a thread on NextDoor after the last Board of Health meeting, and you hear from the community a mix of support for the Board of Health to claims that it's nothing but politics to it's them shirking responsibility for choices made in closed sessions. The thread got rather heated so the original poster closed it which prevents me from being able to share the comments, but it's probably for the best that the conversation was brought to a close.
Will you be attending? Do you have an opinion you'd like to share? You can reach out on the new Charles Town Social platform to submit a comment. I am very interested to see what comes next.
